Rolton Fire carried out a review of the fire detection and alarm systems at Perkins Engines Company's Peterborough facility.
The company's site is made up a large number of factory, office blocks and ancillary buildings. The oldest part of the site dates back to 1947 while the rest of the site was built or extended over the following thirty years.
The Fire Team was asked to review Perkins existing alarm systems, which reflected the organic way the site had developed over the years, and to investigate the requirements for a more modern solution.

The team analysed the current system and specified three levels of system, ranging the from statutory minimum, to industry standard and finally to the highest standard.
Perkins was able to use the report in liaison with their insurers as the basis for the specification for a replacement system that was designed, installed, and commissioned by a specialist supplier.
